Words I found when I looked up the synonym for trinket:
Bauble, curio, whatnot, objet d’art, bibelot.
What I wanted was a word for something small. A gift, nothing fancy, a mere offering from the heart. I think of items a child might collect on a nature walk—a stone, a leaf of cedar, an acorn. How these findings are often presented with the purest of joy.
As a thank-you to those who are paid subscribers, I wanted to pass along this, a bouquet of findings that I’ve enjoyed lately—words and images that have lingered.
I so appreciate each and every reader of this Substack and am especially touched anytime someone comments, restacks, or supports my writing through a paid subscription. I’m looking forward to sharing more author interviews in the new year, plus some surprises to celebrate five years of Girls on the Page.
In the meantime, I hope your last few days of 2024 are filled with rest, relaxation and good reading.
